Starting Madpack

This blog will hopefully be helpful in starting your adventures on the Minecraft (Madpack).


From my experience, there are 2 methods of starting the Minecraft Madpack which seem to be most successful.

Methods

1.  Digging In
2.  Exploring/Finding a pre-built structure or home


Ok, so you have created your fresh generated world, now what?


First, chose a method that you wish to follow from above.

Digging In

1.  You will first need to gather some resources.  Resources would include wood and food as a priority.  Find the nearest tree and start hitting it, it will give you one block, use this one block to shift + left click the remaining tree to harvest the remainder of the tree.


My recommendation would be to get at least 3 stacks of wood.

After you have gathered your wood, I would recommend that you find some food, a lot of times there will be berry bushes you can pick berries from, they are randomly located all over the world.

Berry Bushes

Berries are a light meal source and do not provide a sustained way of having food however, remember, after you pick the berries, also take the bush so that you can grow them later.

Also at this point, I would recommend that you make a crafting table, make your basic tools (sword, axe, pick and shovel).

Go slay some animals that you may see with your sword, most of the animals will give you some sort of meat that you may eat.  Keep in mind that when you attack a neutral animal, if there are surrounding animals, they will also attack you.  If there are 1-3 of the animal, I would go ahead and kill them.  If there are more, I would leave them alone as they can do some significant damage to you.

Once you have at least 10/20 berries, about 20 meat from the above animals, it is time to DIG IN.

The best spot to dig in is mountain/cliff sides.  Find a good cliff edge and start digging with your shovel/pick, I would make a 2 block path that goes in and down about 20 blocks.  It is important to go a little deeper than straight in because of Meteors that may land and destroy whatever you create.

Once you reach about 20 blocks down, make a decent sized room, about 4-5 blocks high and about 10 blocks each direction.

Next, you want to do some crafting.  I would recommend at least to make 2 large chests, a crafting table, a grinder and a furnace.  

With the furnace, you want to burn some wood so that you may get some charcoal.  With the charcoal you want to start cooking the food that you gathered earlier, as well as make some torches for light.

After you have crafted these items, you want to make about 10 stone picks, it is time to do some mining!

With the DIG IN method, your main focus is to gather ores so that you may quickly get gear to battle the Madpack world, as it can be quite brutal.

With your stone picks, you want to do some mining, I would first start by making a clean away from your main room, making sure to keep the path lit, once the path is lit you can start shift + left clicking to do some mass mining.  With the shift + left click mining, which is also called (vein mining), it will take out a large amount of blocks.  This also takes away the durability of your pick, that is why we made a vast amount of stone picks.  

You want to mine down to at least level 12, you can tell what level you are at by hitting F3 in the game, the Y coordinate in the top left corner will give you the level that you are currently at.  Level 12 is a good level to find diamonds, force gems, iron and whatever other ores we may need to continue our journey.

Once you reach level 12, lay down a straight path with cobblestone, you want to stand on the cobblestone and vein mine in front of you.  This is important so that you are not falling through to the ground and you can keep a straight path.
